Black Hills Solar is a solar power company located in Rapid City, South Dakota. We install high-quality solar power and energy storage systems for homes and businesses in the Black Hills area. As energy experts, we also help people understand energy consumption, improve energy efficiency, and gain energy independence.

Sonny Rivers
President
Sonny, a NABCEP-certified energy practitioner and PV system designer/installer, is the founder and president of Black Hills Solar, Inc. and head of sales and installation.
For more than a decade, Sonny has endeavored to advance sustainability and efficiency as a practice; helping others achieve a more forward-thinking, economic, independent, and resilient lifestyle with the latest technologies and applications for managing energy resources.

Since 2015, Sonny has experienced the growth of the residential and commercial solar energy industry first-hand, having installed thousands of solar panels for over a hundred local projects. Sonny started Black Hills Solar to offer our region high-quality solar power systems and energy services.

Bryan Mitchell
Master Electrician
Bryan is Black Hills Solar's Electrical Contractor (EC-3543, AEC3533) leading our electrical systems design and service team.
Bryan entered the electrical industry in 2003 and is experienced in all phases of electrical installation including automation and troubleshooting. He also has experience at the highest levels of electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controllers, Variable Speed Motor Drives and other advanced Electrical Control Systems.

Rory Schneider
Journeyman Electrician
Rory is our journeyman electrician and PV installer, leading our fieldwork for electrical services and installation.
​
He was first introduced to solar in 2012 and would later go on to study electrical, entering the field as a full-time electrician in 2017. Rory completed his apprenticeship in 2019 and has experience in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, both new construction and remodels.
​
We serve the Black Hills region, including Pennington, Custer, Fall River, Oglala, Meade, Lawrence, Butte counties in South Dakota as well as Newcastle and Sundance, Wyoming.
​
Black Hills Solar is located on Samco Road in Rapid City (off Deadwood Ave.).
