Black Hills Solar is your premier, certified installer for Tesla Energy products. Tesla's integrated solar and battery Powerwall system stores excess solar power from the daytime for use at night. Powerwall provides a seamless switch to backup power during a grid outage, reduces demand from the grid, and helps to offset higher energy costs at peak times.

How It Works

Tesla Powerwall

Tesla Powerwall can be installed in several configurations to support a wide range of installation requirements.

Powerwall 3 with Backup Switch

The new Powerwall 3 has an integrated solar inverter that accepts up to 20 kW of solar panels. A single Powerwall 3 also boasts an increased power capacity of 11.5 kW to run large air conditioners or well pumps.

Up to four Powerwall 3 units can be installed in parallel to provide up to 46 kW of power and 54 kWh of energy storage. Expansion units (coming soon) will also allow each Powerwall 3 to further increase its storage capacity.

Powerwall 3 may be used with the Backup Switch or the Backup Gateway depending on the installation requirements.

Currently, Powerwall 3 is not compatible with Powerwall 2, Powerwall+, or permanently off-grid sites.

Backup Switch

Designed for seamless integration, the Backup Switch enables easy whole home backup by fitting behind your utility meter, reducing the need for extensive rewiring or extra electrical components.

Backup Switch is suitable for 200A services when the meter installed on the building.
