Black Hills Solar is looking for solar installers, electrical apprentices, or other experienced contractors to join our team. We are looking for individuals with an interest in renewable energy who have electrical experience or are interested in an entry-level position in the electrical field. Other skilled construction workers may apply. Paid on-the-job training is included.


This position is paid hourly, Monday through Friday, 30 to 40 hours per week. Part-time and full-time opportunities are available. Starting at $15 per hour (apprentices), and up to $30/hr depending on experience.


Responsibilities include job preparation and planning, delivery and installation of equipment, hardware installation, electrical/wiring, record keeping/materials lists, maintaining materials inventory, and maintaining vehicles, tools, and the workspace.


All applicants must be willing and able to work on ladders and roofs as well as attics and crawlspaces.


Requirements:

  • Construction, roofing, and/or electrical experience.

  • Physical fitness to safely lift 50 pounds overhead, work on ladders, rooftops, attics, crawl spaces, and hot/cold environments.

  • Competence to work safely at all times and use PPE including gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, dust masks, climbing harnesses, etc.

  • Driver’s license and a clean driving record.

  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Ability to work well as a team and contribute to efficiency and safety on the job.

  • Good communication skills and a respectful attitude.

  • Willingness to grow with the job and take on additional responsibilities over time.

  • Good organizational skills to plan for each day’s tasks and keep daily records.

  • Respectful and friendly interaction with all team members.

  • Non-smoker.
     

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for each job by maintaining materials inventory, loading vehicles, and being on time.

  • Take on installation tasks and support the team leader. You will follow the project plan, record installation reports, and report any problems/changes to the team leader.

  • Carry, lift and position solar panels and other equipment.

  • Excavate, trench, operate equipment, and pour concrete.

  • Attend regular team meetings and training.

  • Organize and maintain the workspace, inventory, tools, and vehicles.

  • You must be able to coordinate and cooperate well with your team and be capable of constructive dialogue and problem-solving in order to ensure a high quality of workmanship.
